Basalt wall

I understand that this page is a little overwhelming. It's the compilation of several past pages that I wanted to centralize into my Iceland pages. I've tried to help the pictures be easier to navigate by organizing them by subject. Hover your mouse over each picture for a brief description.

Flower growing in dirt
Tulips! The Westfjords This picture was taken at 3:45am - I forget if that was sunset or sunrise! This is the ocean in a fjord - it's unusual to see the water so still! Scenery across the peninsula from Reykjavik On the way between Keflavik and Reykjavik

These are the beautiful purple arctic lupine that flourish in the rocky landscape. They help trap the dirt stirred up by the wind, which hopefully in many more years will allow the land to become more fertile.

Pictures from Reykjavik. Hover your mouse!

An unattended baby carriage (with a baby in it!) - a common sight in Iceland Hallgrimskirkja (Hallgrim's Church)
Tjornin - the pond The view down one of the streets in town - you can see the ocean and Mt. Esja at the end.

This is at Geysir, which is where we get the English word "geyser". The big geyser which lends its name to the location has recently started blowing again but is irregular - these pictures are of the much more regular "Strákkur".

Pictures from the Westfjords, including pictures of puffins. The orange house is an emergency house in case the weather gets bad suddenly on the mountain passes. There is a radio inside as well as a guestbook to sign that you've been there.

The rest are pictures that didn't really fit into any other category, or there weren't enough to justify making its own row. :P Hover your mouse again for a description of what the pictures are.

A cliff in Vik Mom & I at Vik Lava A bright orange beetle in a bright green field under a bright blue sky One of many markers that dot the landscape. These used to help people track their way from one location to another. The white stripe in the back is a glacier. Isak and daddy at a nature preserve in Reykjavik
A mamma sheep and VERY newborn lamb. The lamb was still wet and had its umbilical cord hanging from its underside.   Rock fences - so beautiful! Marshmallow fields forever   A glacier
