Because if there’s one thing I excel at, it’s procrastinating
Friday, March 28th, 2008Last weekend was the base’s easter egg hunt, which really pretty much sucked this year. In years past they’ve used the youth sports area which had several baseball fields, and each baseball field was stocked full of eggs and given to a certain age group for a “hunt” - nevermind the fact that there was nothing to “hunt” when it’s a flat baseball field, but it’d been fun the last 2 years nonetheless.
So this year they put it in one field and cordoned off different areas and put a few eggs in the field and let the kids go at it. The 7-9 year old group was enormous, and each kid ended up getting no more than about 8-10 eggs. Anja got 4 and Isak got 8 because he at least was quick thinking enough to run to the opposite end of the field from where the herd of kids was. Anja got stuck trying to put her fourth egg in her bag because of the wind and by the time she stood up the one side of the field was completely empty. Fortunately, one of the organizers happens to be the very nice wife of one of my bosses and ran out to Anja to redirect her to the opposite end…which by the time she got to was also completely empty.

What was fun was the bouncy thing where the kids could battle each other. Isak defeated one other person to be able to take on the next one in line…his sister.

See that tall boy in the right side of the last few pictures? Yeah, that’s the one that Isak defeated to get to his sister. And he was not giving it to the little kids, he’d defeated a couple of other kids with one swift blow but Isak and I had had a talk earlier about strategy and it worked out well for him. I think he was mostly motivated by the opportunity to kick his sister’s butt.

After the egg hunt was Anja’s birthday party for her friends at home, and we had a great time with that. She got an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting as she had asked for. It was a very busy, but very fun day.
