Saturday, November 3rd, 2007Ahhh, our daughter. There is seldom a dull moment in my house when Anja is there. Or the grocery store or the soccer field or wherever else she might be. I’m pretty sure anyone who’s read my blog for more than a week knows this already, though.
So this year the kids are playing in the little league soccer on base. Both kids are on the same team. Isak wants to play but has some problems with being a bit too timid (and afraid of the ball and maybe even a wee bit lazy like his mother), but the last 2 games he has really gotten into it and has been enjoying it even more. He even scored the game-winning goal today! What an accomplishment.
Anja, on the other hand, seems to think of soccer as anything else, which is that you do whatever you fancy, whenever you’d like. She’s picked flowers before, picked her nose, poked at others’ noses, played with other girls’ hair, played pat-a-cake type games (you female readers certainly remember “Miss Susie had a steamboat…”, don’t you?) either with another teammate or, if there isn’t one available, alone. Last game right in the middle of a play, she just froze. For like 3 seconds. In mid play. And then it was like she hit the reset button and moved again. Sometimes she’ll practice her ballet.
Today I was fortunate enough to have my camera with me to capture her…um…I’m not sure exactly what she’s doing, but she did it a lot.

This wasn’t even when she was alone, she continued this while the game was in full action and she was supposed to be defending the goal…

Right. That’s my girl.
Later in the day, we were having a water balloon war with our neighbors across the street (I highly recommend every family purchase a water balloon catapult, and also anyone who lives in high-rise apartment buildings.) It’s November, right? It was a nice day, mind you, but it was 6pm and the sun was starting to descend and so was the temperature. But! water balloons mean wet, even though she wasn’t participating in the wet part, and that means she must don the appropriate early-November attire and jump “rope” on the trampoline with the water balloon catapult.

Like I said - never a dull moment with this girl.
