Thanksgiving

I do not come from a country where we have thanksgiving. I like it but really haven’t felt the true meaning of it exept eating turkey until you drop.

Today Anja was playing outside with girls in the neighbourhood wich she usually doesn’t play with and theyr parents were sitting outside and watching them. I didn’t know them, only seen them here and there. I decided to walk over and talk to them since our kids were playing. We started talking and short into the conversation the husband asks me, what are you doing tomorrow. I kind of didn’t know, I was kind of planning to go over to the galley here but wasn’t sure. Right away he invites me to come over tomorrow at two. I was taken of guard, I didn’t expect it. I accepted the offer. It was a nice feeling. So I am bringing a couple of sixpacks and maybe some wine and I am thinking about making caramel potatoes.

Now I get it.

That is really cool! You’re feeling the Thanksgiving brotherhood.

Do you mean caramel potatos as in, potatos with caramel in them, or caramelized potatos?

  2. Karyn

I’m glad you finally get it. :)

    Happy Thanksgiving.

I’ve always thought the day was overrated, except its’s a meal that the whole family supposedly sits and eats together. Nothing wrong with it at all, but if for some reason something else comes up…we’ll see you next year. It’s only a meal.
Then again, it’s great to see the Americanization of one slick son-in-law.
I sure am glad my daughter has such great taste taste in men. I wish we could all just sit down and eat together. I would even bring the beer.
    I miss my family.

and just what the hell is “caramel potatoes”?

and, don’t worry, Kristina, former vice president Dan Quayle couldn’t spell “potatoes”, either
Remember, Karyn and I are closely related.

I guess you would call it caramelized but it isn’t really caramel that I put on them. My wife likes them and I have made them for others here and they liked them so it is a good chance that other gringos will like them. We make them over x-mas back home, good stuff.
